New Afternoon Tea Delights this Summer
The pastry team at Adare Manor have been busy crafting a new summer menu for those who will dine for Afternoon Tea. Set in the inspiring surrounds of The Gallery, guests can expect dainty cut sandwiches, perfectly crafted miniature pastries and warm scones served with clotted cream and lemon curd; this Afternoon Tea is an indulgence to dream about long after your visit.
Your Beverage of Choice
We recommend having your Afternoon Tea experience with one or two types of tea, which can be selected from our menu of over 21 varieties. We can offer classic black, white & oolong, fruited, green, and herbal teas. Might you try our signature blend, 1832? This is a superbly aromatic tea, with a trace of mildly spicy nuts. Or perhaps you may consider our raspberry nectar tea, a sweet juicy taste of garden-ripe raspberries beautifully blended with tropical hibiscus petals; it makes for the quintessential summer beverage due to the seasonality of the ingredient. If tea isn’t to your liking, you may consider our specialty coffees, using ‘Ponaire’, an Irish company that import high quality Arabica beans from around the world and hand roast them to meticulously draw out unique flavours.
If you want something a bit bolder than a tea or coffee, we also offer a selection of Martinis and Afternoon Cocktails, all using or inspired by the ingredients of our tea’s and coffee, including the Signature Appletini: a blend of our signature tea 1832, vodka, apple and lime juice. You may also pair your Afternoon Tea with a glass of champagne or wine, all of which you can browse in our menu.
The Savoury
Those who will be tempted by our new menu will experience both sweet and savoury delights. On our savoury plate, you will experience traditional Irish flavours and fresh ingredients with their seasonality in mind: Braised Limerick Ham sandwiches with whole grain mustard mayonnaise; Ballyneety Cucumber sandwiches with lemon cream cheese; Smoked Chicken Breast sandwich with asparagus, avocado purée and focaccia; and Duncannon Smoked Salmon sandwich with tartare, chive crème fraîche and salmon caviar. These are a wonderful selection of savoury bites that act as the perfect starter to the Afternoon Tea experience – that’s if you prefer to enjoy your savoury flavours before your sweet!
The Sweet
After enjoying the traditional flavours from our savoury selection, you will taste our sweet plate: a celebration of the light and sweet flavours inspired by summer. This summer, this plate includes a Pink Tart made up of rhubarb mousse, champagne jelly and custard tart; a Chocolate Delice devised of layers of soft chocolate sponge and creamy ganache; the Lady Choux pastry is comprised of a choux bun with praline and chocolate mousse and crunchy almond filling; the Strawberry and Elderflower pastry is combined with elderflower jelly, strawberry cream and a hazelnut biscuit; and a Apple Panna Cotta shot, filled with panna cotta and apple jelly. These delicate treats are bursting with flavour!
Saving the Best for Last
Our freshly baked scones are one of the most coveted from the Afternoon Tea experience. It is the final serving of Afternoon Tea, and includes our traditional warm scones, both plain and golden raisin, paired with clotted cream, strawberry preserve and lemon curd. While you linger over the last of your treats in the setting of The Gallery, you may ponder about when you may return again to indulge in this jewel-box menu.
The Gallery at Adare Manor
The Gallery at Adare Manor is a masterpiece within a masterpiece: the Dunraven family’s favourite room, and the centre of their family life in the manor house. In 1832, the 2nd Earl of Dunraven and his wife, Lady Caroline, decided to embark on a complete redesign of their family home, building a grand new Manor House in a legendary gothic style. Of all the superb apartments in Adare Manor, The Gallery was the most intimate expression of their creativity and love for beauty, a family sitting room adorned with every beautiful architectural flourish and ornament they could imagine: a process of furnishing and decoration which spanned years. The 2nd Earl once wrote: “The Gallery looks almost like a Cathedral…I do not know how we shall ever fill it.”
