Discovering Adare Manor’s Enchanting Wildlife
Nestled amidst the picturesque landscapes of Adare village, Adare Manor offers not just a glimpse into history but also a sanctuary for a diverse array of wildlife. As you wander through our grounds, the graceful presence of hares darting across lush parkland captivates the eye, while the elusive red squirrel adds a splash of colour to the dense woodlands.
The tranquil waters of the River Maigue, meandering through the estate, provide a haven for our agile family of otters. Here, amidst the rippling currents of the weirs, these sleek mammals showcase their swimming prowess, offering a mesmerising sight for onlookers.
And let’s not forget the regal swans that grace Adare Manor’s ornamental lakes. With their elegant glide and serene presence, they epitomise the timeless beauty of Adare’s natural surroundings.
Ongoing conservation efforts mean that there is always something new to discover. We have surrounded the Padel Club with a sea of native wildflower meadows: heaven for our eyes and a haven for pollinators. The honeybees of Adare Manor play a crucial role in enhancing the lush greenery and vibrant blooms that grace our estate. Nestled within seven hives, each based on a design from the 1920s, the honeybees thrive under the watchful care of Adare Manor’s team.
Alongside our rewilding projects across the resort, we have planted four hundred mature trees and thousands of saplings since 2016, and constructed two new wetlands on our golf course. All of these measures add to the beauty of the estate, but also contribute to the health of our environment, providing land-based carbon storage, water quality improvement, and wildlife habitats.
In preserving the rich tapestry of wildlife within its borders, Adare Manor pays homage to the delicate balance between luxury and the untouched allure of nature. Every creature, from the swift hare to the majestic swan, contributes to the enchanting story of this historic estate, inviting visitors to reconnect with the wonders of the Irish countryside.
