Charles Heidsieck Champagne & Biondi-Santi come together for the first time.
Another First for Adare Manor; Charles Heidsieck Champagne and Biondi-Santi come together for the first time in Ireland to co-host at Adare Manor a Special Champagne and Wine Evening
We are delighted to announce we are to collaborate with two world leading Wine and Champagne Houses for a special evening on Wednesday, 10th October 2018.
Charles Heidsieck, one of the most admired Champagne House, and Biondi-Santi, “the Italian Petrus” who created the first Brunello Di Montalcino, are set to host this luxury Private Wine Evening in the intimate setting of The Library at Adare Manor and will showcase both Biondi-Santi wines and Charles Heidsieck champagnes paired with a four course fine dining menu by Adare Manor’s Michael Tweedie, Head Chef at The Oak Room. The Houses both belong to the Descours family who bought Charles Heidsieck in 2011 and took a majority shareholding in Biondi-Santi estate in 2016. Consequently, it will be the first time ever the two Houses will have held an event in Ireland. A limited number of guests can be accommodated at this special evening and these places must be reserved in advance.
Founded in 1851 by Charles-Camille Heidsieck, the original ‘Champagne Charlie’, Charles Heidsieck is one of the great names of Champagne, and produces some of the finest of all champagnes, which receive countless awards and accolades year after year. The success of their winemaking team over the past three decades: Daniel Thibault, Regis Camus, Thierry Roset and Cyril Brun have between them been awarded ‘Sparkling Winemaker of the Year’ at the International Wine Challenge fifteen times. No other House has won more than twice. The wonderful history of the Biondi-Santi family and estate dates back to the late 1800s, and today 5th and 6th generations of the Biondi-Santi family, Jacopo and his son Tancredi remain actively involved in the award-winning estate. We are honoured to have Tancredi Biondi-Santi attend the evening. The Biondi-Santi family have been joined in recent years, by Christopher Descours, the owner of Charles Heidsieck and Chateau la Verrerie, who has invested in the estate and vineyard, which is split over three sites II Greppo, to the east of Montalcino and close to Montosoli. The oldest vineyards, those over 25 years of age, are the source of grapes for the Riserva, while those between 10 and 25 years are used for the Brunello ‘Annata’ and those younger than 10 years are used for the Rosso.
The evening will be jointly hosted by Jurica Gojevic – Head Sommelier at Adare Manor, Willem Pincon – Charles Heidsieck Senior Brand Manager, Tancredi Biondi-Santi, 6th Generation Grandson of the Founder. The hosts will present the current vintage and riserva of the Biondi-Sandi and the Charles Heidsieck Champagne along with a classic older vintage of each.
Adare Manor reopened its doors last November, and since then, a number of prestigious wine Houses and Estates from around the world have expressed a desire to come together with Adare Manor to create Unique Wine Evenings like no other. The resort is delighted to announce details on its second such evening will be a collaboration with Charles Heidsieck and Bondi-Santi.
