Revealing our fourth hand-chosen Midleton Very Rare single cask whiskey, exclusive to Adare Manor.

Our partnership with the Midleton Distillery continues with a particularly special single pot still whiskey, aged for 25 years in a virgin American oak barrel laid down by previous Master Distiller Barry Crockett on April 25th, 1996.

After many years of maturation, investigation and sampling, Master Distiller Kevin O’Gorman felt that it was time to add this exquisite whiskey to Adare Manor’s collection. With just 156 bottles produced in 2022, this fourth release is 100% pure Irish pot still and bottled at cask strength, 58.7% vol. The maturation in virgin American oak casks produces wonderful aromas of oak infused perfume, orange zest and earthy woodland spices.

This marks our fourth whiskey partnership with Midleton Very Rare, a relationship which was established over six years ago where the rarest whiskies at the Midleton Distillery are hand-picked and bottled exclusively for Adare Manor. All three previous cask releases are now sold out and just a few bottles remain at Adare Manor for guests to enjoy in The Tack Room and other resort bars.

Tasting Notes

On the nose, the fourth edition of Adare Manor Midleton Very Rare has an oak-infused perfume with maple syrup and sugar-glazed cherries. Aromas of orange zest, nutmeg and white pepper complement the earthy woodland spices and scented pine-nuts, while additional fruit notes of fresh fig appear over time. The pot still spices work in harmony with the aged charred oak and fruits, giving balance.

Tasting this unique whiskey, you are greeted by green peppercorns, freshly grated ginger and mild chilli oil, followed by an array of sweet textures including malted cereal chocolate and honey-drizzled figs. Fruit notes of lemon posset with sugared almonds provide decadence while the charred American oak adds a tannic structure, complementing the robust spices and sweet indulgence. Then the spices subdue to the building intensity of the charred oak that eventually fades, allowing the soft fruits to have the final word.
